A case study in acute laminitis by treating it with a tenotomy. One of our EquineOnly members recently had the misfortune to treat one of their horses with laminitis with a tenotomy. In this particular case you can see in the xrays the angles of the bone and the difficult road ahead. Correction of this problem involves the typical reshaping of hoof and shoeing using an unusual shoe with rails (see photo below). One the achieved angle of approach is complete with the railed shoes then the tenotomy is performed. In this case the tenotomy is used to sever the tendon to release the pressure on the hoof bone.
