I have a 21 yr old Quarter Horse Stallion with diarrhea. He has had this problem for about 3 Months. He doesn't have it all the time. But it seems that it just when he is passing gas. His bowels are fine. He has not lost any weight and does not have a tempature. Any suggestions out there?

Any recent illness or change in environment? Could be stress. What kind of feed/hay is he on? Has a vet looked him over?

Well nothing has changed for him. He is under no stress. He is pastured with a gelding for companionship and they get along fine. He is on good quality hay and get Purina Senior Feed. I have has him since he was 2 and this is the first time he has had any problems. I have been very lucky with him. I have not had the vet out yet because so far it is not causing him any trouble. Like I said no weight loss or discomfort of any kind. Just when he passes gas. Its more of a nusiance for me than anything.

I would suspect a bacterial infection of some sort that is causing it. He might have a cold. There is an anti-biotic you could give him, it comes in a paste form in a syringe sort of like butte paste. I can't remember the name. I'll look at mine when I get home and let you know.

Well I just wanted to let you know that everything has cleared up on its own. I don't know what caused it but he is fine now.:) :D He is a strong horse so I didn't really worry about him too much.

Strange, but i'm glad everything is okay. Might have been a stress or some sort of cold bug.
