Okay, so I am going to start cantering really soon (in 3 days). The first time I cantered, I had only been riding for a month and a half and the horse I rode was fairly young (like 7) and she decided to go into a fast cantering with the horses in the paddock. So I fell off.

That was a long time ago. I could barely sit the trot at that point, and now I can sit and post to the trot. My instructor (diff one from the one who had the other horse) says that I am ready to canter, and so I am kind of nervous. Also, what is a counter canter? My friend set my signature to "One man's wrong lead is another mans counter canter" and I am curious to what it means.

Yeah so what is cantering like? Is it hard to stay on? :-/  :o

Hi Mozart,

I can't believe no one has responded to you yet. Hopefully you are off and cantering now and you love it! Its such a wonderful feeling when you trust your horse. Its unfortunate your first canter attempt was so tragic.

If no one has told you yet a counter canter is when you canter on the incorrect lead intentionally. Sometimes, in a dressage test, you have to show that your horse understands the difference between a right and left lead. Which is why your signature is so cute. :0)
